Overview
In an era of homogenized storytelling, Piece of Cake was born from a desire to see more authentic self-representation on screen. Sophie Feher, the artist behind SoapTears, developed the project to provide an impactful and sweet portrayal of queer love—a vision that resonated globally, garnering more than 7 million views on YouTube.
The film follows two porcelain bride cake toppers, Val and Mara, in a local bakery. By day, they are fixed in place; at night, they watch each other from a distance, longing to be together. The narrative tracks their courageous decision to leave their assigned grooms and navigate the treacherous landscape of the bakery to finally unite.
